Sponsored by Wolfe
Technologies, Inc.,
a
Michigan based website
design company,
Write To Woof
is a fun, flowing-fingers
approach to writing.
Contributors begin writing
July 1. The goal is to write
a
175-page (50,000-word) book
by
midnight, July 31 while
raising money to support our
efforts to rescue jailed
shelter dogs.
We
value the act of doing
as much as the art of
creating ... therefore,
we have begun
Write
To Woof
as a book-writing program
for everyone who has ever
thought about writing a book
but has been scared away by
the daunting process of it
all. As well, our approach
to raising funds allows
those who are either not
able or not inclined to
participate in the
traditional walk-a-thon
method of fundraising, an
alternative to lend their
efforts toward charitable
work while having fun doing
something they love.
Our
contributors are lovingly
called
'Woofers'
and
the only thing that matters
during this month of writing
is, well, writing. It's all
about quantity, not quality.
This
'type-and-see-what-sticks'
approach forces you to lower
your expectations, take
risks, and just write.
Freely and Simply.
That's right, no devastating
critiques; no points removed
for improper spelling ...
just massive amounts of
writing. We can all
worry about the editing
process after we've amassed
50,000 words!
As you
spend July writing, you can
draw comfort from the fact
that other
Woofers
are going through the same
joys and sorrows of
producing the next #1 New
York Times Bestseller. We'll
get the ball rolling on June
22nd with an
All Ears
Party in Michigan to build
excitement and enthusiasm.
Woofers
will meet throughout the
month via our
Forum
to offer encouragement,
commiseration, and check in
on word counts. After
all, a little competition is
a healthy thing! When
the word counts and
donations have all been
tallied, we'll meet again
for our Grand Event, the
Tail End Party
on August 3rd to celebrate our
writing stick-to-it-ness and
our commitment to helping
dogs everywhere.
Our
goal during this manic month
is to raise $10,000 to aid
in the rescue of shelter
dogs, while simultaneously
transforming a minimum of
20,000 mechanics, computer
geeks, out-of-work-actors,
English
teachers, coffee shop
employees, UAW workers,
students, grocery store
baggers, retired
grandparents, and other
assorted
'regular folk' into
accomplished writers.
Wouldn't you like to be a
Woofer, too?

eternal bond between a dog
and their best friend ... YOU!
