Who We Help

The work of
Best Friends
is supported
entirely by the
donations of our
members. Through
the generous
hearts and hands
of people like
you, we can
ensure that
animals who come
into the care of
Best Friends
will never again
be alone,
hungry, sick,
afraid or in
pain.
Though it may
seem almost
magical, Dogtown
is a real place
at
Best Friends
Animal Sanctuary,
and has been
doing great work
to help dogs for
almost 25 years.
Dogtown is just
a part of the
work that
Best Friends
Animal Society
does to protect
and serve our
animal friends,
including pets
of all sorts.
See all that
Dogtown is doing
to save and
rehabilitate
dogs!

If you're
going to be
a writer,
the first
essential is
just to
write. Do
not wait for
an idea.
Start
writing
something
and the
ideas will
come. You
have to turn
the faucet
on before
the water
starts to
flow.

Our
contestants are lovingly
called
'Woofers'
and
we encourage them to not
only write the best possible
manuscript that they can,
but to also help us in
raising funds to save
innocent dogs' lives.
Our
Woofer's
Blog
will be available to
see the entrants' work, and
to celebrate the creativity
that writing competitions
can create.
Our
goal during this competition is to raise $10,000 to aid
in the rescue of shelter
dogs, while simultaneously
converting hobby writers
into published authors.
A great cross-section of
Americans are closet writers
... mechanics, computer
geeks, out-of-work-actors,
English teachers, coffee
shop employees, UAW workers,
students, grocery store
baggers, retired
grandparents, and other
assorted 'regular folk'.
This is your opportunity to
let your muse run wild, and
see
your work in print!
Wouldn't you like to be a
Woofer, too?
Join us in celebrating the
eternal bond between a dog
and their best friend ...
YOU!
Please
investigate the rest of our
website to learn more about
how you can use your
creativity to save precious
lives.
I think dogs are the
most amazing creatures;
they give unconditional
love.
For me they are
the role model for being
alive.
